Is there any chance I can be accepted to Yale/Columbia?

<p>Overall, I'm looking at 1)Yale 2) Columbia 3) Cornell 4) UCLA 5) UC Berkely 6) USC 7) UCI (as a safety) I'm most likely going to keep the number of colleges to 7. But I'm concentrated in Yale and Columbia.</p>

<p>SCHOOL: New Public, class of 2011
STATE: CA
SAT/ACT: SAT- mid 2200s, ACT- 35 at highest
SAT 2: Bio: 770, Korean: 800, World: 750. (I am taking like 5 subjects this year)
GPA: not that good, 6 Bs so far (Im going to be a junior) I took all honors both fresh/soph, 2 aps during soph world and bio, B+s in english both freshmen semesters, Bs in ap bio both semester, b in ap world 1st semester, and b in english 1st semester of soph. You can see I am not that good at english.
RANK: top 20%, maybe 10% (our school does not rank though)
APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID: Yes</p>

<p>-Been in orchestras All-State, All-Southern, Honor Orchestras, PSYO (Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra), (all either 1st chair or 2nd chair).
-Featured soloist in Bejing Olympics Tour (performed in 7 cities in Korea and China for 3 weeks)
-Masterclasses with Jian Wang
-1st chairs in all school highest orchestras
-Volunteering at School of Blind Kids
-VP for Debate Club
-Leadership program in LA
-Debate Programs/competitons in Jumping Brain, UCLA
-member of CSF, Math Club, Key Club
-President/creator of P.I.M.P. last year (soph) -basically we held fundraisers with concerts and gave the money to poor society organizations and senior centers.
-This year, president/creator of Smiletrain Club- basically we will hold fundraisers again with concerts and other activities and donate all the money to the Smiletrain organization, which is an organization helping children with cleft lips.
-PAVA Archery Team
-Internship/Community service at Dental Hospitals (6 hours each week)
-Internship at GATE (an SAT school)
-Black Belt Taekwondo</p>

-NOVA and AZOT Swim team meets (all 1st, 2nd, or 3rd)</p>

<p>1) retake SAT mid 2200 is sorta low for ivy 2300+
2) wut is ur GPA exactly 3.75+ is competitive for ivies but
3.9+ is always nicer </p>

<p>Don’t worry about re-taking the SAT. Your ACT score is fine.</p>

<p>your extracurriculars and test scores are all awesome. actually they’re better than awesome–they fit right in with the rest of the ivy pool. now you just need to focus on the essay and write a really good one. I’ve always been told that test scores don’t matter as much as the essay and extracurriculars, but there is no reason to worry about your test scores anyway.</p>

<p>I would disagree – contrary to what it may appear on CC, your ECs are way beyond those of typical Ivy applicants. Just make sure your grades stay strong and work on your essays when the time comes.</p>

<p>Don’t worry about your test scores and ECs. They’re excellent. Just worry about getting good grades from now until you apply. Of the Yale admits I’ve known, only one had an SAT score above 2250; however, all of them had nearly perfect academic records (Mostly A’s and A+'s with a few A-'s peppered in). Maybe the SAT isn’t as important as CC makes it out to be…</p>
