Is there any chance to get in Harvey Mudd as an international student applying RD?

I’m choosing my ED II for application this year. I will be applying for need-based financial aids, of which I know only a handful of international student get admitted to Harvey Mudd, and since the number is so small, I thought only ED students would get in. Is this the case? Is there any RD international student get offer admission with financial aid?

I’m sure RD students do sometimes get aid. But it is very competitive, regardless of which pool you are in.

I have read some comment about which admission type should I apply to Harvey Mudd, and many claim that ED doesn’t really have any benefit. Is this the case?

Is it really your first choice school? Do you have very strong academic credentials?

I really like Harvey Mudd. Especially its honor code really make me feel I will become a better person attending. I will be thrilled getting in a number of school, and since only Harvey Mudd offer ED2 I thought I should go for it. I will be incredibly happy if got in anyway.
Academics: 35 ACT (36 on maths and science)
I got 800 on chem and math lv2, 790 on physics test.
I took A level so got A* in Maths. A in chem and physics with A* as predicted for both. There’s a mock exam coming up soon, I hope I don’t mess up that lower these scores.
I take further maths as extra.
I can only pay 20k per year.
That’s short for tests and stuff. I also have another thread which got the full stats.

As I’m a student from Vietnam so I thought there should be incredible competition from other Asian countries.
Thanks for helping me

I’m having trouble reconciling a 35 ACT with the large number of grammar mistakes in your posts (just being honest).

@intparent thank you for the honest comment.
I do get that a lot…
As an international student, English isn’t my first language. So the way I studied it was similar to how I studied the Science (remembering facts and then applying them). I think that’s why I managed to get a decent grade on the ACT English test, while still remained clueless in writing
I will try my best to improve though. Writing more and focusing on my grammar. Thank you for pointing that out. I will be more cautious next time.

You certainly need to be very careful in your essays. Otherwise US colleges will find your test scores suspicious. You need a TOEFL or an IELTS score if English is not your first language, although they do have some criteria on the website for waiving it.

No chance.

@Atrung2901 , your chance of getting in is Zero if you don’t apply. I am not sure whether EDII improves chances compared to RD. If you are sure this is the right college for you, go ahead and apply EDII. You should apply to some good safeties as well. All the best!

According to the common data set, the level of interest is not considered in year 2017 and 2018. Though it is somewhat too late, but it might be a reminder for future students.
