Is there any correlation between the UCLA likely and Berkeley admissions?

Also, isn't it surprising that the estimated acceptance rate for UCLA is LESS than that of Berkeley?
And BTW, I'd applied for EE at UCLA and EECS at Berkeley

I would also like to know this. I got a likely from Civil Eng at UCLA but I have a strong feeling that I’m going to get rejected/waitlisted from Berkeley.

There probably is a slight correlation but a correlation doesn’t mean causation. UCLA likely students have high stats and are competitive for UC Berkeley admission.

One school has absolutely no influence on the other; no correlation would exist.
Food for thought:
EE at UCLA has an acceptance rate in the mid/high 20s. The CoE at Berkeley has an acceptance rate in the low teens. EECS is also one of the most popular majors at CoE, so I wouldn’t bank on getting in Berkeley even if you got admitted to UCLA :)

There are plenty of people who get into one but not the other. There’s not really any correlation in the sense of “if ___ accepts you you’re in at ___”, so in that sense there’s no correlation.

Having high stats definitely helps your chances at both, but that’s more to do with being a strong applicant, and less to do with where else you’re accepted.
