I know Albany is really big on partying, but not too much on education. Stony Brook is notorious for being big on education, but not on partying. Not only that, but Freshman must sleep in cramped dorms with up to 5 or 6 other people if I remember correctly. Is there a social life at Stony Brook?

Five or six people? No. Triples? Yes, at least until the new housing opens in 2009. I'll let some students address the social life question, which has certainly been addressed in other posts in this forum, but I want to clarify the housing piece.

Can someone tell me about Stony Brook's boarding High School?

Good academics?

dorm life?

drmaQueen - Don't know that this would be the forum for that; this forum focuses on Stony Brook University. The Stony Brook School's web site is www.stonybrookschool.org; I can't tell you anything about them other than that they're just north of our university campus.

What is the difference between regular and Honor students' dorm in Stony Brook?

The Honors College students are housed together in Tabler Quad; but their rooms are no different than anyone else in that quad.
