LMU was my first choice school (and still is) so I applied early action.

I have a 3.7 weighted GPA with all AP and Honors courses

This year, I'm in five AP's and will have a weighted GPA in the 4.0 range.

I got a 1930 on the SAT

I was deferred and am still really interested in going to LMU.

I applied as an English major and have the intent to minor in screenwriting.

If my grades for this semester stay up do you think I'll be able to get in RD?

I heard from a reliable source that Early Action was the most competitive ever in their history this year, so don’t lose heart. Also consider that as an institution that is looking at the “whole person” your GPA and test scores are not everything. As a Jesuit institution, they really are looking for people who are a fit with the mission and who resonate a congruence with the values.

Thank you! Though I probably should’ve mentioned my extracurriculars and such:

I’ve been volunteering with the local children’s hospital for three years.
I am Coordinator of my school’s Link Crew (freshman orientation program)
Heavily involved in my school’s Every 15 Minutes program (dedicated to raising awareness of teen drinking)

My essays were both very good. The first was on how alcohol has affected my family and how experiencing addiction has influenced me to stay clean throughout my life. The second was on an injury that ruined my potential career as an athlete and how it allowed me to gain a new outlook on life and explore different possibilities for my future.

I have also been in consistent contact with an admissions counselor from LMU.

I know my application doesn’t seem like much, but LMU is a school that I would LOVE to be a student at.

You sound like the perfect LMU student, they probably are waiting for mid-term grades so I hope it went well. Don’t lose hope.

I just got my acceptance from LMU today!! And don’t worry, i had similar stats as you, 3.6, 1940 on sat. So i hope that cheers you up!

Thank you! I just finished my first semester with a 4.3 GPA so hopefully I get in!!
