Please forgive my ignorance on this, I know I should have taken my education more seriously.
I got a very good job out of high school, and was only in college part time.
Starting from Spring of 07, I enrolled part-time in a local CC for an AS in computer science.
I did fairly well, with my GPA hovering around 3.3.
However, I did get one F.
My physics midterm was on the last day that I could withdraw from the class, and, as much as I begged my professor, his hands were tied, and the F stayed.
Even if I graduate, many schools will now pass me up for enrollment, because of that F.
Also, I’ve had to repeatedly withdraw from classes, due to some very severe family, and health problems.
I don’t mean to sound as if I’m making excuses, but, there was just no way I could be a full time student.
I did very well in math, which usually drives many students to leave Computer Science.
I never thought I could conquer Calculus and Linear Algebra, and I’m eager to continue.
My transcript is peppered with Ws, and a glaring F.
The As I got aren’t enough, and my overall GPA is 2.4.
I suppose I could go back and re-take the classes I did poorly on (although some of them aren’t offered anymore).
But, it’s going on five years, and I’d like to move on with my life.
My school is understaffed and underfunded, and I have gotten conflicting answers about how to improve my GPA.
I really do not want to attend Borough of Manhattan community college anymore.
I’m approaching 26 years old, and it’s very frustrating that I am deadlocked in paperwork, appeals, and Kafkaesque protocol, when I want to be LEARNING.
