Is there any IT program that is actually any good?

<p>It isn’t that uncommon, but the specifics vary. In many cases, it is under the business school / department, and can be light on the technical side (which may be why many company IT departments staffed with people schooled in MIS/IT have trouble handling unusual problems, and/or are very conservative about new technologies, or even applying security patches).</p>

<p>You can emulate an MIS/IT major by doing a business major choosing business major courses relating to MIS/IT (which may be offered even if a major or concentration is not), and gain better useful computer skills than most IT people have by taking the following Computer Science courses:</p>

<p>introductory sequence for Computer Science majors
Operating Systems
Computer Networks
Databases
Security</p>
