Is there any limit?!

In the admissions process is there any limit at what you submit almost becomes clingy rather than just interested, could it work against you if you show like, too much interest?

This can't be judged in general, what specific thing are you talking about?

haven't you answered your own question? clingy/desperate is not the image you want to project. Enthusiasm and qualities and interests to share with others is what you do want to show.

I know, but where do you draw the line?

For example, this is the Oberlin board so:

As well as the general application stuff, What extra stuff to add would show great enthusiasm, but where would you draw the line.

I'm thinking art supplement, Either a good piece of art (like a painting of the college), or a poem or something?

Who has experience with this?

The arts supplements on college applications are to show a genuine strong talent in music, creative writing, drawing -- if you have such a talent, a portfolio, a CD of musical performance, a collection of poems, etc. would be appropriate. I don't think it means you should draw a picture of the school especially for the application! Most private colleges in the U.S. have these supplements, but they must be of top quality to make a difference in your application. The Why Oberlin (Why whatever college) essay is a different matter: there you want to show why you believe you would be a good fit for Oberlin and it would be a good fit for you: you would be entering a community that prides itself on its uniqueness (its history, as a stop on the Underground Railroad, the first school to admit African-Americans; its conservatory and art museum; its "quirkiness" and environment of tolerance, etc. -- what the new facebook calls its "fearlessness") -- you want to show that you understand that uniqueness and can contribute to it.

Aww. I could do a top quality oil painting of it as well.

But I understand yeah. I'm getting a better picture.

Why Oberlin i look forward to writing next year.

Although I seem to remember someone who got in there saying they included a poem about the college in their app. which apparently went down well. Would art not work inn the same way?

i wrote a poem about oberlin. it was meant to be funny, though. i think art could work.
