Is there any need for a personal printer while at UCSD/Revelle?

Or are the on campus print facilities more than adequate?
Are they very expensive?

My son did not have a printer until he moved off campus. I think most of his papers were turned in on-line. When he did need to print something he just used campus printers. He was in a triple and I know that they did not have a printer in their dorm room.

Thanks!

It’s convenient to have your own, but there are printers in Blake Hall for student use. Sometimes those aren’t working, though, so Revelle kids might have to walk to Muir, the med library, or PC. A printer is a luxury, though, not a necessity

The only reason to get a printer is for convenience. If you don’t mind printing in the library or in a computer lab, then it’s a non-issue. If you think you’re going to be lazy and not want to walk anywhere or you think you’ll be scrambling to print something at the last minute or you happen to have a printer you can bring already or you just don’t want to have to deal with school printers, then bringing your own printer might be worth it. I brought a printer when I went to UCSD and had a lot of friends who did so as well. It was convenient, but printing through the school was easy too. I’m just lazy and forgetful so I brought my own printer (and we already had the extra printer so the only cost was ink and paper).

It’s $0.05/page for black and white printing and $0.20/page for color.
