I'm aware that there are a good number of options for people interested in a career in writing of some sort (things like journalism, English/Lit., MFA, etc.), but I'm curious about any degrees that may exist specifically for someone who may be interested in writing screenplays.

Actually, it wouldn't even have to be a degree necessarily, but just classes. I know USC and UCLA have those types of classes, but living in a smaller area the schools here don't seem to have anything like that.

I mostly do this for fun at the moment, but am just wondering about possibilities for more "professional" training. I've sometimes considered submitting some of my work for a pitch. Still mostly a personal creative thing atm, but want to look into possibilities for doing it more seriously (while working in another field that pays teh bills).

You would find courses in screenwriting in creative writing or film studies (or radio-television-film) programs. You could major or minor in one of those fields in addition to whatever field will provide your day job.
