Is there anybody who travels to Europe regularly?

I'm going to Europe this summer and need an airline ticket to Frankfurt for as cheap as it can possibly get. So I was wondering if someone knows how to get airline tickets cheaper than it gets when you buy from priceline, orbitz, etc.

call up some travel agents (you can find them in the ad sections of newspapers) and you can sometimes get really good deals. Our family got tickets from LA to India on Singapore Airlines (= amazing service) for 1200 per person from a travel agent.

Well if you're flying from the States I don't know that much, but when I was over there last year, there were a ton of cheap flights on Ryanair and its competitors.

As for Ryanair, I really know that company and plan to fly with them within Europe, but before that, I need to get from New York to Frankfurt somehow ;-)

Swim, maybe?

Edit: I think we went over there on Aer Lingus, which gets you to Ireland. You can take Ryanair from there.

2nd Edit: A $209 flight from NYC to Dublin. <a href="http://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obel01im1/bookonline/webdealDetail.do?objId=536887725&BV_SessionID=@@@@0581073214.1175915053@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccgaddkimeejdgcefecfigdffgdfki.0%5B/url%5D">http://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obel01im1/bookonline/webdealDetail.do?objId=536887725&BV_SessionID=@@@@0581073214.1175915053@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccgaddkimeejdgcefecfigdffgdfki.0</a></p>

Hm, thanks tommeister. Dublin is an option and airline tickets from NYC to Dublin are freakin' CHEAP. The only problem is that Ryanair from Dublin to where I want to go is 300 EUR!!! Which is far more than it is reasonable to pay... Anyway, thanks for your response.

Any other thoughts and experiences???

I found a flight with British Airways from NY - Franfurt for $1,072.

Under a grand for June return Aug.

I really didn't like Ryanair...

I know it's cheaper - but it's because they don't fly to major airports. I flew with them last year, and you get off the plane, only to have to pay more money for an hour bus ride into the city you're going to (in my case, Paris). They also have really strict luggage weight restrictions, and the fees to bring more are really expensive... my friend and I were at the end of one leg of our journey when we stayed with his relatives, and we had tons of gifts from them to bring back to his family, who we were meeting in Paris. We payed 33E in excess baggage even after moving as much as possible to our carryons, and we really didn't have that much because we payed no extra on British Midland, which also has weight restrictions.

Honestly, we would have been better off just spending the money to get to CdG and take the train to our district.
