I have heard so many bad things about Kaplan or PR SAT class. Is there anyone who has had a different experience with this type of SAT preparation class? I really like to know negative or positive.

My English teacher used to teach them. She told us explicitly that the classes don't do anything and exist only to rip off your parents. So I don't think they're worth it. My aunt also used to teach them. She says exactly the same thing. The College Board is just out to get your money.

My school had a summer class based on the PR book.

My score went from 1700 to 2100 in 3 days, from the diag test to the first practice.

My scores are 33 ACT and 2160 SAT. I would have been in the 1800's and mid-20's without that class.

I think that if you buy the PR book or others that is basically what you would be learning in the class. Maybe you could try to organize a class in your school, just look around for teachers who are willing to vollenteer (english and math would work best so they can answer any questions), get people to show up, possibly after school a once or twice a week and tell people the only cost is to buy the books.

lindsey - that is a good idea. i wish i had thought of it before wasting my parents' money on the class. i'd say the one good thing about taking a class is that it forces you to take several practice tests which is the best thing to do to prepare for any standardized test. but if u have the discipline to consistently practice on your own, then why waste your money? i found the blue collegeboard 10 real practice tests book helpful, as well as the barron's verbal workbook since that's my area of weakness.

No. My SATs went down 50 points when I took princeton review. The 3rd time I took it, I studied by myself and improved 170 points from the first time I took it.

My friend went from an 1800 to a 1960 with PR. How much of that was actually due to PR? I have no idea.

most people lack the discipline and psychic energy needed to take practice sat exams by themselves
it's not as easy as many of you think it is
its boring as heck
