I appllied to UT with a 2100 and 2nd decile class rank. CAPed. I signed the CAP contract for UTSA. I sent in my housing deposit immediately. I wait on the lease contract. Nothing comes. i check my mail and email every day. Nothing. I call, and they say "dont worry, its coming". It still doesnt come. I call back a week later and get a different person. Same **** "be pateint, its coming, wait till July". I call back July 1st, and the dip**** says that the lease contract should have been emailed already, and that theyre no longer issuing them. I ask why they didnt MAIL it, and they have no answer. I check my email for the last year, and see NOTHING. I call back and ask if theyd forward me the message they sent from their outbox. Hmm, they cant. They tell me to find off campus housing.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. All the other schools I applied to early this year sent me Financial aid estimates immediately. UTSA sent me-you guessed it-nothing. I called numerous times saying i wnated my FA package, and they kept saying it wasnt finished. After much prying, they realize they set me up on 2 different ****ing accounts, and had to start all over. I got testy with them, and here's what they told me. "Well, youre really UT Austin's student, not ours, so its not a priority". Now Im furious.

Ive wnated to go to UT-Austin all my life, and I'd planned to spend a year at UTSA in Chisolm Residence with my friend from High School to attain that goal. It may have meant getting stuck in a liberal arts major instead of business soph year, but I was willing to risk it. But now on top of that they expect me to stay in a ing apartment without my friend because theyre too incompetent to mail me a *ing lease contract? They had no trouble mailing me a notice today saying i hadnt turned in my lease contract, and that I could either go onj the waitlist or get my deposit refunded. If they can mail me their "*** You* letter, why couldnt they mail the damn lease contract in the first place?

Anyway, I called A&M last week and appealed for reinstation (I got accepted there initially and put down my deposit, but ultimately decided to go to UTSA). They granted my appeal, and said I could go there. Everyone Ive talked to has said thats extremely rare, and to tell UTSA to **** off.

So basically Ive decided that Im going to call UT-Austin tomorrow and complain. If its not too late to appeal, I'll appeal. (Its a shot in the dark, but it cant hurt). But either way, I wnat to let them know that i dont approve of the CAP program, the 10% rule (which is the legislature's fault, but UT still usu\es rank only for other purposes and has no academic admit system based on rank AND SAT like A&M has), or how they do their business in general.

Now that you've read my rant, Im just curious, is it too late to appeal, and do I have any real basis to anyway? Im guessing I dont, but its worth a try. Ive been a Longhorn fan all my life, but Ive reached the point now that they slammed so many doors in my face that I have to turn to the school thats opening them right and left for me. Staying in an apartment at a glorified junior college on an undeclared major track isnt better than going to a near top 50 school, staying in a private dorm, and doing the business program.
