Is there anything she can do for the C- at math ???

This post is for my friend.
His daughter got a C- for her sophomore math course.
She is attending a BS at Boston area.
She is so worry about the C-, said it will be a big hurt for next year when she apply for college.

Is there anything she can do? How about take a course at community college (next summer) or any on-line course?

Thank you.

She can’t do anything about the C-, but she can do her best to show improvement and that the grade was an outlier, not the mean. To that end, getting high grades in next year’s courses (particularly math) is vital. Taking other courses at CC or online may help, though I’m not sure by how much. Most important is for her to identify why she got that grade (and not the “My teacher hated me” or “The tests were unfair” type of identification…was it procrastination? Does she not learn well from books? Did she not do all the work? Does she need a tutor?) and fix it, or she’ll have similar problems next year.

Don’t whine, improve the grade, show progress, get your GPA up if it took a hit. Don’t worry, be happy.

You can take courses on CC?

CC = Community College

^^ Lol.

@OP: Have her prep for the next math course w/ a summer course. Get a tutor. Nothing to do except man up and get really prepared. Try to get high math SATs too.

This thread might be better in College Admissions.

Thanks.

She tried to do some satII practice this summer, her mother said, she got around 600, they decided to give up sat mathii test but focus on this year’s math course.

ALEKS.com is great for reviewing and extra explanations, etc. It lets you focus on what you don’t know, without endless drilling on what you do know. My son did the algebra course during winter break last year. It WILL NOT let you go on until you have the requisite skills for the next concept. He was able to place out of algebra because of it. I hope this helps her.

good luck.
