Is there anyway to mitigate the effects of a low first-year GPA?

the norm for credits should be 30 to 32 credits (depending on whether the credits are 3-creds or 4-creds each) for the entire year. it’s a bit odd you’re taking 9 classes. however if that’s what you can handle there is nothing wrong with that either.

Not for certain geniuses.

yeah, i remember my friend at cornell told me he was taking 24 credits and i was like “OMG! YOU’RE INSANE!”

and then i realized that at cornell, each course is worth 4 credits rather than 3 like at my school, and i was far less impressed. haha
i assume this is a similar situation.

^
27 is the minimum for scholarships. We need 120 credits in total to graduate.

^^i know a lot my courses at cornell were 3 credits. 24 is insane even if they were all 4 credits (at least to me)

LOL. You are asking for the impossible.
Your only resort is to learn from this year and work harder the next. The more units you take, and the more high grades you earn, the more your GPA will rise. It’s simple.

**** I took 38 credits my first year.

38 isn’t too bad. i just finished taking 37 this past year (night classes make this much easier to do). but i would not have done that my freshman year for sure. that’s too much to deal with i think.

My GPA went from 3.077 my first semester, b/c I was a dumbass and didn’t do **** my first semester, but party and play halo with a group of people. Plus I didn’t study or barely studied for college exams… which i feel like an idiot for not doing, until right b4 finals, which was too late to improve grades. Second semester though I pulled off a 4.0 lol, and my Cumulative GPA became a 3.57. So yea trust me you can improve alot with just one year, if u had a 3.3 after your freshmen year, If you take the same number of credits or more your sophomore year, u can average out at least 3.7 or more by the end of ur sophomore year if u get 4.0 both semesters. Lol and 3.3 is pretty good ur freshmen year so relax
