I'm a freshmen, obviously... who knows nothing about college life. Do we have school/class the week of finals? i was talking to one of my friends and he said no? So do we just go to school that week to take tests, and then leave?

Yes, but final exams are often scheduled at different times or in different places from where the regular classes meet. Make sure you know where and when your finals are taking place.

Generally, no. Classes end the week before finals, and then finals week is nothing but final exams.

As already mentioned, final exams are typically scheduled at different times and possibly different rooms than the times/classrooms you’ve had all semester. There should be a final exams schedule available on your school’s website somewhere. Professors will typically announce the date/time/location of the final the week before finals week. Make sure to check the schedule and get it all written down though. They’re typically scheduled so that nobody has more than two finals in one day, but there are flukes from time to time. If you end up having more than two scheduled for one day, accommodations will typically be made to take one of the finals on a different day.

Yup, no class on finals week.

It depends on the school (some international ones might be different) but generally no. In that sense, it was kind of like high school as we didn’t have school on those days either with the exception of the final

If you’re a freshman, you have access to an academic calendar that would typically show the last regular day of classes and the days exams are scheduled. Your syllabus for each class may also include this information. Given that it’s December, I’d be shocked if this info hasn’t already been mentioned in class as well. Do you go to class?

Also look at the syllabus for your classes.
