I really love Columbia, but I'm afraid that I don't even have a chance because my ranking is on the low side. I'm 20/457, which is within the top 5%, but basically everyone from my school who gets into Ivy League schools is either valedictorian or salutatorian. My SAT score is a 2320, but I know that alone won't help my chances much. My extracurriculars are pretty good but not spectacular. I'll probably end up applying anyway, but I want to know if I even have a shot so I won't be hugely disappointed in the end.

There is no harm in trying… minus the application fee.

You seem like you have a shot - be more confident! I think that’s half the battle with college applications.

To have as a good shot as anybody, you need to be in the top 10% (which you are). With an SAT of 2320, you dwarf most (about 70%, i’m guestimating here) applicants to CU already. Many accepted range in the 2200s.,

Yes there is. People with stats much worse than yours apply every year and get in. And your stats are really good.

if you want to go to columbia, and plan on doing a good job on the application, then yes! apply. but if you don’t want to go, then well that’s another story. the only way to get accepted is to apply.
