Penn's website indicates that you have a choice between Common + Penn Supplement or the Penn Application. However, at a regional info session the adm. officer said this Fall, Penn will be exclusively on the Common App with Penn supplement.

Can anyone confirm this? I will call the Penn admissions office later if no one knows for sure.

Thanks!

This Fall, Penn will only accept either the Common Application + Penn Supplement or the Universal College Application + Penn Supplement. Unlike past years, there will no longer be a complete, self-contained Penn Application:

45 Percenter, thanks - you always have the right answer!

I have not heard too many colleges mention the Universal Application, so I think we will stick with the common app. which seems to be more widely accepted.

Does the Penn supplement change much year to year? How many essays/short answers are in the Penn supplement beside the "Why Penn" Essay? I know there is the page xyz of your autobiography one, what are the others?

Thanks again.

It's been a few decades since I completed a Penn application, so I suggest you get that answer from some of the posters here who have applied a bit more recently. :)

There are two short answers (at least, there were for the 2007-2008 admissions cycle): what you do for fun and which Penn professor you'd like to study with. Why Penn is the only required essay, and there are three(?) different questions for the optional essay. I don't think these have changed for at least two years.

MissBarbara: so there are 2 short answers & 2 essays required in addition to the common app essay and short answer. Would you remember how many words each of these is supposed to be? Thanks!!!

45 Percenter:

didn't know you were an alumni, would you mind sharing how your educational experience at Penn impacted you? Were you an undergrad at Penn?

Thanks so much for any insight.

Ummm I think the short answers are just supposed to be a few sentences. There might be a physical limit on the Common Application so you'll know when your space is up. I used the regular application but I noticed there was a limit on the common app and wrote accordingly (came out to a sentence or two). With the essays, I just used the one page, single spaced rule of thumb.
