Is there hope?

Before I moved to Massachusetts 10 years ago, my grandfather said I would go to MIT. I always just kind of blew that off, thinking I was never good enough. Now that the time has come for college application, I have started to wonder if I should go for it and just apply. Is there any chance of my acceptance?

I also travel overseas quite frequently, if that would affect my chances at all. My family owns an apartment in Venice, Italy that we rent out while we are away so we go there at least once a year. I have also traveled to England, Scotland, and Wales multiple times, as well as Poland, where I have family.

**Another question...is it okay to apply EA at MIT and ED elsewhere?

Yes, you should definitely apply if you think you’ll like MIT. There’s no reason not to apply. Also, it isn’t ok to apply EA at MIT and ED elsewhere. It’s either ED or EA, not both

^Well, it’s fine to apply to MIT EA and somewhere ED as long as that’s fine by the ED school’s rules. In any event, if a student is admitted somewhere ED, then he must withdraw the MIT application right away.

I also skipped a grade and I wanted to know if skipping a grade helps with college admissions if you take challenging courses and perform as well as, if not better, than students in your grade.

Oh, sorry about that mollie. Guess that’s good to know for future reference though, thanks :D

skipping a grade is pretty neutral in our process.

^ thanks (10 char)
