Is there really a difference between a 33 and a 34?

I recently took the June ACT after months of prep and got a 33 (35 E 34 R 32 M 32 S)
I was pretty disappointed as I have gotten a 35 on the reading which gives me a 34 superscore but I got a 25 on the math in that test (31 composite) so I’m hesitant to send that to colleges that don’t formally superscore.

The reading on this June test felt abnormally hard and I choked a little on the math due to anxiety. I’m pretty confident that I can get a 34 in September. I know a 33 is good and puts me in the range of a lot of top schools but I have seen that there seems to be some “magic line” in between a 33 and a 34 (i.e. there’s not much difference between a 34 and a 36). Is it worth taking again?

PS I have no hooks

I would try to take it again if you have only taken it twice. If your next retake will be your 4th or 5th shot, then don’t bother.

It depends what schools you are looking at. If you feel that your application needs that extra boost, a 34-36 will help, but if you feel that it doesn’t need a boost, a 33 will be fine. If you want to retake it, don’t stress. I got a 33 my first try, went in the 2nd time carefree without having studied and got a 35. The mindset you are in matters a lot.
