OK, so you know the colleges that accept both their own application and the common application? they say they don't differentiate between applicants who use their application and applicants who use the common application, but is this REALLY true? i mean if this is the case, why would they have their own app at all??

We can speculate all we want, but it's impossible to know this for sure. Personally, I barely have time to finnish my homework, so I'm using the commapp whenever possible :)

If a school has agreed to use the common application, they MOST definitely will not hold it against you if you use it. I think they are realistic and have made it "easier" for students to apply to several schools without having to rewrite much of the info over. They all have suppplementals so after they receive the initial part, they will be sending you additional forms to fill out-usually additional short answer questions about why you want to go to their school and what you want to study. They all have individual applications because suppose you are going to apply to a school ED or EA, you don't need the common application since there won't be other schools you are applying to. But feel confident that they will not penalize you for using the common app over a regular app.

i don't know. somehow i get the nagging feeling that legally, they won't hold it against you, but when human conscience and ego comes into play, then..............
