Is there any reason to show more interest with emails or visits if I am already applying early decision? Or is there no use because I am applying ed?
Hmm. ED decisions for most colleges came out in mid December. Don’t understand your question.
If a school does not consider applying ED a strong show of interest, it would be very strange.
I am applying ED 2. It comes out mid-February for me. I am not saying that the school I am applying ED does not consider it strong show of interest, I am saying whether if there is any use to show MORE interest (emails, visits).
Honestly, I don’t think you need to show more interest. What would concern me, if I was an admissions counselor though, would be if you’d applied ED without visiting at all. But if you’ve visited, you’re fine.
I wasn’t able to visit due me living far away and financial reasons but Im sure it’s the perfect school for me. Is it a good idea to email this to them?
Many schools, most of the top schools, say that interest has no weight in admissions decisions. That’s what they say, and for the tippy top, I’m sure it doesn’t factor in, because, they reason, who wouldn’t want to go here?
The specific university I’m talking about is Lehigh University.
No point. The reason for “showing interest” is so they can judge their yield. How likely is this student to attend if they are accepted? A student who has shown “interest” is more likely to be serious about the school. But if you applied ED, then they already know the answer to the yield question. So don’t waste your time unless you really have a question or good reason to contact them (additional accomplishments you want them to consider that have happened since you applied would be a good reason…).
If there is an interview, that is your opportunity to show interest - do your homework on Lehigh. Look up the university, the program or programs you are interested in, what the area is like and so on.
Otherwise, don’t worry about it, ED is good enough to show interest. Adcoms have enough people bothering them without emails saying “I really really REALLY want to go there!”. IMHO.
Really, an ED student does not need to “show interest”. Only try to get an interview if you KNOW you are a good interviewer and think it might help an application that is weak in some areas. If you aren’t sure if you are good or not at it, or your application seems strong on its own merits, there is no reason to do it.
