Is there something wrong?

What’s my what? Sorry, I already forgot your question.

SAT and ACT is BS. I got a 16-- and a low ACT score. And yet…I managed to get two 4.0s in college, landing myself on the Dean’s list. I knew of a girl who got high gpa and test scores and was valedictorian. She is on academic probation with 3Es, 2Cs, and a C- sitting on her transcript.

Test scores are just that: test scores. I really don’t give a damn how low my scores were…they are all irrelevant at this point. What matters now is my COLLEGE GPA, my ECs, volunteer/work experience, etc.

The SAT doesn’t measure intelligence, it measures whether or not you took the initiative to study and learn the types of questions on the test. The valedictorian and salutatorian at my high school were both intelligent and excelled at math/science - but neither of them got over 2000. I absolutely suck at math, but scored a 2120 and was ranked in the 30s. It has to do with whether or not you studied.

I disagree that the SAT measures household income - I found tons of free material on the internet and at the library to study, as I’m sure any other resourceful person would.

I have to point something out. Is it possible that because the student tested so poorly that he went to a lackluster school with lax grading systems? When teachers and poorly paid and institutions poorly staffed, the adminstrators have strong incentives to just hand out A’s, either in an attempt to give the students a better chance of finding a job or out of laziness.

There was a NYT article about Law school grades going up by 0.3 over the past TWO years in an attempt to beat the suffering job market.

The SAT/ACT is not the best indicators of college success. Yes we all know that and this issue has be discussed millions of times.

People who score higher on standardize tests tend to get higher grades in college. Of course, there are many outliers who fail to fall into this category.

One can argue that person X getting a 4.0 but with a 1800 SAT at a top college, or person Y getting a 2.5 with 2200, but I firmly believe that the ~95% students with top %ile GPA at your school also have a top %ile ACT/SAT scores.
