<p>Hmmmm . . . younger child (rising sophomore) is fixated on Harvard where her older sibling attends - we are defnitely not. Please no one tell her that having an older sibling at Harvard with a ridiculously good gpa could help her chances. We want her somewhere smaller, closer, gentler and that awards merit $.</p>

<p>Ace2209, understand the sentiment but when you are the one paying the bills you are the one who ultimately gets to make the decisions. A lot of people are under considerable financial strain these days. Maybe that’s not fair but its life!</p>

<p>Perhaps he was mainly referring more to the “smaller, closer, gentler” part of your post…which usually isn’t governed by financial considerations.</p>
