Is there such a thing as spring sessions in U.S colleges?

Can someone please answer the question? If yes, can i ppls get the list of colleges which have it. I need it ASAP. Thnx.

All US colleges HAVE spring sessions. Are you asking for colleges that allow you to apply directly to those sessions?

Yes, I want to know which colleges allow me to apply directly.

It’s pretty much too late, but you can check here:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/820726-schools-still-accepting-spring-2010-transfers.html

I guess i’m going to be late to catch the 2010 fall session, so i want to apply directly into the 2011 spring session. Are there any colleges that offer students to apply directly into the spring sessions? If so, can i get the lists of colleges the does so. Thnx.

Oh, well you have plenty of time then. Don’t just think spring, think winter as well. The University of California schools would normally take applications in August, but I doubt any public schools in California will be accepting students in the winter or spring, at least the ones in San Diego are not.

Anyway, I would think almost all schools would allow you to apply for winter & spring 2011, however, they may not do that this year due to budget issues.

I’m not going to look up schools for you since I think they’d all normally take winter/spring admits, however I’ll leave it up to you to decide which colleges you like, and then for you to actually find out yourself. It’s pretty easy, just go to Google and type in the name of the school and “admission dates”.

thank you very much. I sincerely appreciate your helpful reply.
Another Q:
If a student wants to apply for September, they would need to have submitted everything by Dec.-Feb. What are the deadline range for a student applying for the winter/spring sessions?(somewhere in NY)

For the upcoming fall term, the important application deadlines have probably already passed as of December 1st. I believe you can still apply, however, the admissions clerks are not obligated to process your application. All I can say is give it a shot.

If you’re trying to apply to a bunch of schools, which you’ll probably have to try to find ones that will still take you, I suggest using something like common app to simplify the process. Now I don’t really know what common app is all about, but I assume it’s a website that you put in all your information, and then have that site complete your application for whatever schools you choose. There’s a forum on this website about common app. You may want to check it out. If you’re serious about trying to apply for this next fall term, do it NOW. Like literally right now.

As for winter, probably August, and probably November for spring. Unfortunately my local schools closed their spring admittance programs, so I don’t know from experience.

If you are talking about applying to be a freshman: (a) I am not aware of any list that provides colleges that accept 2d semester (spring session) applicants; (b) large numbers of universities DO NOT accept spring freshman applicants; and thus (c) you will have to check with each college to determine whether you can apply spring semester 2011 and its deadline date (such info can be found on the colleges’ websites.

If you want to apply for Fall 2010 as a freshman, you again have to check deadline dates of each college because those vary among colleges. For a number (such as all UCs) the date has already past. For large numbers, the date is January 2, for others mid-Jan, for some sometime in Feb, and some even continue to take apps into the summer.

If you are a transfer you have the same issues and have to check each college for actual rules and deadline dates. For transfers, most colleges will take either fall or spring semester transfers but there are some that take only fall. Transfer application deadline dates are almost always different from incoming freshman application dates and the dates can vary greatly among colleges.

In other words, start doing some investigation of the websites of colleges you may be interested in to determine actual rules for those colleges.
