is there such thing as "not long enough"

Complete opposite of what everyone else is asking ("can my essay be 40000 words?) ... one is just about 350. The app (not common app) says 250 minimum. I don't want to drone on and on, because i really don't know if i have anything significant to write about...?
so will schools say wow it's not 500, rejected! ?

if its only 350 words and you don't know if you have anything significant to write about, its probably best if you spend more time brainstorming to come up with a better idea. everyone has significant to write about.

well, anything in addition to what i already wrote. i think what i have is certainly significant and somewhat decent (has yet to be edited or revised) but i think i've said what i needed to say.

bump, should it be over 500 or is 500 sufficient? thanks .. actually my question pertains to the Common App essay prompt, though the question the OP asked does not.
