Is there time to get between these buildings in 10 minutes?

Can any current student tell me if these are doable?

My son has a class in Chem 1211K in Clough and then Calc II in Huey. He has 10 minutes between classes to get there is this doable?

Then he has to go from Huey to a chem (lab?) in the Molecular Science & engineering building in 10 minutes, is this doable?

Can’t edit my post… it’s the Howey-physics building not Huey…

Yep. All are easily doable.

Thank you!

I had the same concern!

^ Being the paranoid mom that I am and the fact we live within 45 minutes of GT. I had to check to make sure. DS and I drove to GT and had him time each segment. While we were there I also had him time how long it would take to get from his dorm to Huey since he has a 9:00 am Physics class. Of course we could only go from the front door of one building to the next.

Clough to Howey is fine less than 4 minutes. Howey to the Molecular Science & engineering building is ok too but it’s longer(some where between 5 & 6 minutes) so he needs to make sure he doesn’t stop and talk to someone on the way. Remember though he was walking with me and I’m not a fast walker.:)

I’m sure that these professors wouldn’t lock the door or anything…right?

I highly doubt they are going to lock the doors. If you are late sit in the back. If a class runs over and you have to leave to get to the next class get up and go.

Yea Clough to howey is a pretty quick walk. There are a couple of ways you can go from howey to molecular science. I suggest going through the biotechnology campus. The other way is walk down Atlantic past the light and all the way down, but then there is a pretty painful slope. If I remember correctly, on the way there is a down hill, but still, hassle.

If you are late to a lecture with 200 other kids, no one will give half a crap. Profs have much better things to do than locking the doors (I sensed that was a joke though?). And you can really sit where ever you want even if you walk in late. You might have had other obligations and they understand. Just don’t make a scene or if you are in one of the lecture halls in howey, block the projector. Try not to be habitually late for recitation just as courtesy for the TA (even though they get paid regardless of your attendance, so they too don’t care too much). For labs though, try your very hardest to be on time for several reasons:

1) if you are more than like 15 or 20 minutes late the TA can be a stickler and not let you do the lab and you have to either beg to make it up or take a 0.
2) TA lets you in, but most of the work has already been done by your lab partner and you would just look like a jerk.
3) TA lets you in, but you don’t know how to do the lab…

Most of the time you do the lab according to the lab manual anyway, but there could be important information not in the book and given by your TA.
