Is there word limits for freshman applicant essays?

Most schools want the essays to be under 300 words, but I can’t find any such requirement for Penn. I am trying to keep them around 300 just to be safe, but I want to hear other opinions.

Anyone?

Most colleges limit the major essay at 500 words.

they say one page. my first essay is one page, but 820 words. i hope dont get hammered for that...

mines is 876

Mine has 643

mine is 1300

595 for why penn and 550 for pg 217. yeahhh baby.

Holy Bajeezus! 1300 Words?!

what?

it is a well developed essay!

How long is too long? Mine are like 1126 (Why Penn) and 883 (Page 217) is that too long? Also does is anyone doing the other choice essays?

i might do 6b (experience). i dont think words matter (they're not going to sit there and count the words), but any essay should be ok if it is A: good, B: 1 page (especially pg 217), and C: readable (ie not TNR 6 font)

woah. 1300 words. I think that qualifies as a bit too long. :)
