Prior to this semester I had a 3.905 GPA Unweighted/ 4.2 GPA Weighted with Honors and AP.
These are my Presumed Grades:
Algebra II H: A or A-
Chemistry H: A
Orchestra: A
AP European History: A
French 3: A or B (depending on Final)
English H: B
I am trying to get Valedictorian of my class and I am taking 5 AP next year and 5 AP my senior year for the weighted gpa but also because I really love the ap pacing.
It’s not a bad semester, but you probably won’t be a valedictorian. At my school, # 1/2 have a 4.0 UW, and minimize on academic classes (like orchestra) for GPA. Maybe it’s different at your school, but regardless being valedictorian isn’t all that important. Just try your best to get good grades and be really involved in ECs. Colleges don’t really care about 1/2 anyway, even if it’s an Ivy.
You’re doing fine, maybe try to bring up your English next year, but otherwise, everything looks good.
If you want Valedictorian, you’re competing against the top of your grade, we won’t know how smart/studious they are. If you go to a magnet school I can pretty much guarantee a no. I agree with you on the pace of AP, Honors and normal classes are TOO slow.
I would not focus on trying to be val because you have no control on how other students in your grade do academically. Focus on what YOU can control – doing the best you can in the most rigorous courses you can manage.
