If a student has AP credit for a biology, but then takes biology in college, is that considered a retake on the AMCAS app?
I would think this is how it will get reflected in AMCAS app.
Scenario 1: If the college does not accept AP courses .
1 line item for the bio course taken at the college with the actual grade.
Scenario 2: If the college does accept AP courses .
1 line item for the AP equivalent course of that college course number with the grade ‘S’
1 line item for the same bio course taken at the college with the actual grade.
If you take a college-level course for which you already have been granted AP credit by the same institution, AMCAS considers the course a Repeat. For example, if you received AP credit for your AP Psychology course and took an Introduction to Psychology course at the same undergraduate institution, you should list Introduction to Psychology as a Repeat.

Intro bio, yes. A more advanced bio class no.
Thank you!!!
My kid didn’t retake any classes he received AP credit so I didn’t know. Wonder how med schools view the “retake”.
Normally colleges should not allow an AP credit to stay on their transcript when a student takes an equivalent class since they should not be granting credit for the same class. The reason both should stay on the transcript is because they are considered not equivalent.
D lost the AP credit on transcript for all college equivalent classes taken in college (Math and Chemistry). She retained Physics because the levels she took were considered higher than AP.
