Okay, so I'm a freshman, this year I took:
World history, honors lit, honors algebra 2, honors physics, Spanish 2, and PE/health.
I'm earning a 4.3 (weighted) or a 3.9 (unweighted)
Next year I'm taking:
AP Euro, honors writing, honors trig, honors bio, Spanish 3, and PE/health.
Is that a difficult enough courseload (with my grades) to get into Wesleyan?
I also play volleyball, do dance team, and am a part of our volunteer program... if that means anything.

Looks pretty light to me. You should have atleast 3 APs your sophomore year.

I had one AP sophomore year, and I got into Wesleyan. Don’t necessarily listen to thelawn.

Wesleyan looks at your courseload in the context of the school you go to. If they only offer four AP’s and you’ve taken all four, Wesleyan will know you’ve taken the strongest courseload you can.

Haha, FallenAngel9, you don’t have to beat around the bush about it. I was pretty obviously ■■■■■■■■.

But yeah, his advice was a lot better than mine.

Wesleyan is an odd dream school for a freshman.

@thelawn - I had a feeling, but stuff like that often gets lost in text. haha

@thelawn Ha! I’m taking the hardest courseload in my class D:
@FallenAngel9 How were your extracurriculars?
@NulliSecundus Why do you say that?

Average, maybe a bit above average at best. Nothing that really stood out.

Though my essays/recs should have been quite good, and being a QuestBridge Finalist sure helped too.

Nevertheless, my advice stands for everyone.

Thanks for your advice
what made you decide on Rice rather than Wesleyan? (just out of curiosity)

piece of advice from someone accepted into Wesleyan University, class of 2015…

you’re a freshman!! stop thinking about taking courses for college, sheesh! i didn’t start thinking of college until junior year!

people obsess too much these days…

I know… but I’m worried D:

I can’t say for sure if I would choose Wesleyan if this weren’t the case, but the reason I counted Wesleyan out was the financial aid (I completely understand why the aid package was so small, but there’s no way I could pay for the school even with the aid).

I chose (well, am choosing - I haven’t counted out my other schools just yet) Rice because of the size, residential college system, and just the overall feel. When I visited it just felt like the place for me. I knew I would be happy there and get a top notch education at the same time.

I have to say I agree with NervusBreakdown, though, and say that you need to relax a bit. Don’t worry too much about college just yet. The only prep you should be doing is keeping your grades up and enjoying your extracurriculars. Love life. Wish I had when I was a freshman. =)

Hmm… do you want to go to Wesleyan because of MGMT?

@vballchick08
MGMT?

[MGMT - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](MGMT - Wikipedia)

@tryingtogetthere: Oh, haha I guess not, then. It’s a very popular band who’s members are from Wesleyan. I know some people who want to go to that uni partly because of that.

Oh! Umh nope, never even heard of them
Just like the feel of the school, they seem to have an excellent psychology program and that’s what I’m leaning towards. Plus, I’d die at a huge university…
