I'm going to be a freshman next year majoring in CS and minoring in EE. Here's what I'm thinking of taking, please tell me if this is way over the top or typical:

SEMESTER 1:
Discrete Structures
Calculus III
Probability and Statistics for Computer Science
Computer Programming I
Linear Algebra

SEMESTER 2:
Physics For Engineers I (Calculus based)
Ordinary Differential Equations
Linear Circuit Analysis I
Linear Circuit Laboratory
Intermediate Programming

What kind of school do you go to where you load up on pure STEM classes? I would think you should be taking some general ed. requirements, especially the first couple years. Assuming this is an allowed schedule, however, I don’t see what math you will have left after your first year; I don’t think that’s necessarily helpful to you, because you might forget most of it by the time you need it.

It seems like an awfully heavy schedule for your first year. Like js said, I would add 1 or 2 gen eds in if your schedule allows it. It would seem that it should since you’re starting out in Calc 3 (Generally schools start out at Calc 1 or 2).

You might want to limit yourself to only 4 classes your first semester. I took five classes my first semester and making the adjustment to college workload took me a while…resulting in my lowest GPA I’ve had my whole time in college.

You could take 5 at first, but be willing to drop one if you think you need to.
