Is this a fight worth fighting?

My school lets us add classes up until about seven days in the school year. So I asked my guidance counselor if I could drop one of my classes and switch my Econ class to a different time period (which my teacher was totally cool with), but she said no, because the deadline had ended. I was like, okay. I wish we had longer time to add classes but I get it. If you let me switch after the deadline is over, that would kind of like bad, and other kids might want to try the same thing.

That was about four weeks ago.
And this week, I found out one of my classmates switched from my French class to AP French. This made me so mad when I found out. If I wasn't allowed to add a class, then why is she? Especially when it's so late in the school year? Every student should be held to the same standard.

I emailed my guidance counselor about it but she hasn't responded. Should I bring it up with my principal? I really don't think it's fair that my school cares so much about such a petty issue like attendance when they give us so little time to add classes. And apparently some kids are able to do whatever they want.
Sorry this is so long.. it's kind of hard to explain.
Any advice would be appreciated

oh boy…
counselors have to write you a letter of rec, that ain’t good

Do they? I thought it was an optional thing. I don’t think my sister’s counselor wrote her one…

I’m not sure that moving from French to French AP is comparable to dropping one class for a totally different class. I don’t think this is a battle worth fighting.

It’s really not worth it. I mean, you’re fighting to get a class switched. It’s not worth potentially making your counselor angry with you.

possible response just to save time: “it’s the principle of the thing”

No. There could be (and probably are) extenuating circumstances for that other student and your scenario and his/her’s are probably different.

Well, we’re allowed to drop classes throughout the quarter so that’s not the problem. And I was just switching my Econ class to a different slot (which my teacher said he was okay with.)
but yeah you’re probably right, not sure if it’s worth fighting this one.

True, but the problem was that the deadline had passed, not to get the same class moved to a different one.

but yeah, you guys are probably right. There’s not much I can do about it now anyways, with a month already into school.

thanks, guys
