Is this a good college essay topic

Hi. I posted this in college essay thread but i feel this is a better place to post!

Is it a good idea to write about an event in India back in third grade.

I was around 7-8 years old, i was at my grandparents house on top of there roof. I filled up a huge plastic bucket and dropped it off the roof. When I looked down I saw an old man on the floor. When I went to go see if he was alright, he was gone. I never found out if he just walked away or it was just my imagination. I was in India for about 2 months and this is the only thing i remember from that trip.

I have been brainstorming for about a week, this is probably the only thing i would enjoy writing about.
Also i am not the best writer, but i think i can make this a good essay.
What do you guys think? Thanks!!!

I don’t see what that essay tells the admissions officer about your current personality and interests. You want to make them want you on campus. By his doesn’t seem like a topic with much potential to me.

If you can show that this changed you or made you who you are today, and make it a really, really good story, then it should be okay, I think.

What prompt would that topic answer?

Does this story “give them a reason to say yes?”

My main concern is that it took place 10 years ago. They’re interested in the YOU who is applying now, at age 17.
