I planned to write about how music helped me overcame my shyness and for my future career goals I wanna help others with similar problems.
Almost any topic can be a good topic; it all depends on how you write it.* I read a very good essay someone wrote about the stickers on her laptop. Nothing earth-shattering, but I felt I really knew her from those 600+ words.
*Not every topic, mind you, but certainly music and overcoming shyness aren’t “turn offs.”
If you can make it specific, lively, interesting, I think it is appropropriate and focuses on letting an experience change you for the better. It may not be super unusual, but it seems to be authentic and important in your life, so I would say go with this topic!
@JenJenJenJen @bobo44 Thanks for the response guys.
Google “Hacking the college essay 2017”. It says to “write only the essay you could write.”
Read that article, and then look at your essay. Does it seem like anyone in band could have written it? If so, add details to make it yours.
Check out the samply essay Johns Hopkins posted. I’m sure i’ve seen a similar essay where the person wrote about how music influenced his/her life. It was beautifully written and I’d advise you to check it out so you get a good idea about crafting yours.
