I have lived in Hanoi, Vietnam and in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and in New Delhi, India
I am Indian-American in the sense that my parents are originally from India
I was planning to write at least one of my Common App essays on all living in all these developing countries and how it shaped my life, is this a good idea?

Regarding living in a lot of countries…could be interesting depending on how you write it. I wouldn’t write more than one essay on that topic though. Out of curiosity, what led you to live in so many different places?
It’s okay, you need to add that certain “umph” that really gets someone interested.
I know that being indian American won’t help, but what about being super international?
Like I spend middle school in Vietnam, elementary in India and Ethiopia and am here in MD, America for high school.

By itself, no, not that special. However, if you can parlay that experience into a solid essay, you might have something.
