Is this a good IB predicted score?

Hey,

None of my friends got any predicted grades yet... only I did... because I am applying early so I have no one to compare with... Please let me know if these IB predicted grades are average/good/really good/amazing. Btw, I do not need financial aid.

Biology Higher Level: 6
Chemistry Higher Level: 6
English Higher Level: 6
Math Standard Level: 6
French Standard Level: 6
History Standard Level: 6
Bonus points = 3
Total: 39

For which universities are these scores competitive? Please help me out! Thanks.

They’re okay. I was at a regional talk by Columbia, Princeton, Georgetown and Northwestern Universities yesterday, and someone asked what’s a competitive score range for IB. The Georgetown rep said, “We like to see scores in the high 30s,” and the other admission officers were nodding in agreement. The higher the better, obviously.

Your predicted scores are probably not good enough for Oxford and Cambridge, which look for 7’s in HL subjects.

bruno I am not applying to Oxbridge… I am applying to top American privates…

The rigor of our HL subjects is above average, but you (will) still manage all 6s, which is pretty decent. You are standing at the level of universities between Michigan Ann-Arbor and lower Ivies if you have good ECs and SAT scores.

Your IB scores are solid.
I would say that with good SAT you would have a good chance at most of the top 20 colleges excluding the ivies. For the ivies it’s harder to say, for somewhere like Brown or Cornell it would be hard but there is still a chance, but it is probably to low for Yale, Columbia etc unless you have something really special to offer. Where are you applying ED or EA to?

it depends on where you come from, i.e. how competitive are the IB students from your country. i would think it’s an average score for an international applying to top schools.
