Is this a good recommendation letter?

So, my english teacher just handed me back my rec letter and I wanna know wether or not its that good... It's definetly positive in my opinion but not excellent or really praising me. Well, give it a read, tell me wht u think. BTW, for the sake of anonimity, i'm changing my name, my high schools name and the teachers name.

Dear Admissions Committee:

It is my peasure to write an enthusastic letter of recommendation for Maria. I teach Honors Junior English at George Washington High School, and it was my good fortune to have her in my first period class last year. When i think of Maria, The first words tht come to mind are warmth and tenacity. She is one of th emost outgoing students I have ever met, while at the same time very focused on achieving her goals.

Academically, Maria's grades have steadily improved since she came to GWHS. I was especially impressed with her witing abiliites,. She is the kind of student who works hard to produce the best possible product. I recall numerous instances where she woudl come and discuess espeically difficult assignments and show me drafts of what she was workign on. I encourages this in all my studnets, but too many do not rework and polish their writing in the way Maria does. Her wriitn gskills are all th emore impressive given that engish is not her native language. She and her family immigrated from Spain, and she is still fluent in her native language.

Maria is activ ein both the school and community as well. She has worked with the _organization name withheald for privacy for over two years and was recently recocgnized by the Department of Health for her work. Maria has also participated in the name withheald.. volunteer service org_. In our school, she was selected student represtiatvie to the site council. She is also active in our arts programs. She had roles in two important musical productions over the last two years and is a member of the concert choir.

Maria is the kind of well rounded students that universities are looking for. Academically she is strong, but she also has numerous other talents that are enviable. She has an appreciation for cultural diversity that isevident in her warm smile and outgoing personality. I know she will be a valuable addition to your school.

Sorry for the typos. those are mine, not the teachers. Well, what do u think?

I dont think it is good to read your teachers rec letters nor do i think colleges like you to do so.

Eh. Your teacher really doesn't seem like that much of a writer, at least for an english teacher. It's bland but not horrible. Really, do you honestly think there's some reason that your teacher would say something about you that she (I'm sexistly assuming that your teacher is female; If I'm wrong simply mentally swap in male pronouns and slap me for perpetuating stereotypes) wouldn't say about any talented student?

If your teacher is really giving you a chance to look over your own rec, tell her that she doesn't need to talk about your EC activities, unless the teacher was the coordinator for it or something. That info is elsewhere in your file. Some unique anecdote would be very good.

There are a lot of words that don't say much important. If I could edit this, there would be slashes all over the place and it would end up half as long. You can't change what she wrote though, and I think it's best to just send it along. It's complimentary enough.
