Is this a good sign? Email from FA office

I sent in a transfer application to a highly selective LAC. Number-wise I’m a marginal candidate, but my grades have a strong upward trend and I have very good ECs…Anyway, decisions are coming out tomorrow, and this email from the FA informed that they had approved my noncustodial parent waiver and that my FA estimate was ready “IF” I got in…haha, man…so right now I’m dying to figure out if this is pro forma, or if there’s a strong chance that I got in!!! Please let me know your thoughts.

That sounds pretty promising to me.

@helix96 I’m thinking the same. It would be odd if they sent me a personalized note on the eve of decision day only to reject me, haha. BUT, I came across a thread where a student was rejected despite getting a FA-related email two days prior to decision day, so it is possible that at this college financial aid and admissions are working completely differently.

well, in most schools FA office works independently from the admission office. So, yeah I guess is neither a good signal nor a bad signal

Ah, in my case, I was contacted by FA office to clarify about asset even before I sent supporting materials in. But it could depend on each school. The only hint I received from FA is loan documents that appeared a few hours before I got my decision. Anyway, Good luck!

For those wondering, the school I applied to was Middlebury College and I just recieved my rejection
