is this a good sign?

<p>Okay so last week, I got an email from Stanford, but I thought nothing of it...But when I told my counselor that I wanted to go visit Stanford, she told me that Stanford may be way out of my league and blah blah blah, then she asked why was I interested in Stanford, and I told her that they emailed me and blah.</p>

<p>She was like " They emailed you? For what?"</p>

<p>I told her that they emailed me saying that they wanted me to apply to their school.</p>

<p>then she changed her mind and said.." Oh...then this changes things. Why didn't you mention that before?"</p>

<p>I didn't know that it was a big deal, and I'm wondering if its a good sign, or should I not get my hopes up. I'm a junior right now. And stanford seems like a pretty cool school, and I'm visiting after thanksgiving...</p>

That basically seems to be the case. The e-mails aren’t really significant at all… everybody I know gets dozens of emails and flyers in the mail literally every single day… you’re just on a mailing list, probably obtained by the colleges from when you took the ACT or SAT or PSAT.</p>

<p>One, if you’re interested in Stanford, and think it would be a good fit, apply. Two, no, that email is not very significant, but knowing that shouldn’t dissuade you from applying. Three, your college counselor is an idiot. Don’t listen to her.</p>

<p>I know she is. lol. No I’m not on their mailing list, its because I am with a program,(they mentioned it in the email). It seemed pretty personal but whatever. I can decide on what I’m going to do on my own. =)</p>
