Is This A Good Start To Get Into MIT?

Hello everyone. I am currently a freshman at the Math and Science Magnet Program, a rigorous four year program at my school. Here are the things so far that I’ve done. Is this a good start to get into MIT because MIT is my dream school.

  1. Started a Speech and Debate Club at my School
  2. Co-Founded my own company, COO (Chief Operating Officer)
  3. 4.0 GPA elementary, middle, and high schools
  4. Around 20 hours of volunteer work
  5. Accelerated out of Algebra I, Geometry H
  6. FBLA, JSA, Academic Decathalon, Varsity Swimming

What else do you think I should do? Competitons or anything in general that would help build my profile would be great. Thanks for all the help.

It is always good to dream about going to MIT but don’t obsess over it.

Keep up the good grades. Learn subjects, not just for a test, but retain that knowledge for the long term. Understand WHY. Challenge yourself.

Competitions are OK but certainly not required.

Get involved in something because you want to, not just to make a good resume. Take responsibility and help with the leadership of what you become involved in.

If, in a couple of years, MIT is still your dream then you will have put yourself into a good position to get in. But if you don’t get in, the things you will have done in high school will help propel you into another good school and on into the rest of your life.
