Is this a good studying schedule?

I am taking a practice SAT every Friday until January 26th. Do you guys think this will be effective? I have been doing this for the last 2 weeks or so and have been somewhat successful. I don't really study during the weekdays because of homework, after school activities, and etc.

(I'm just using the Red and Blue Book for now. I'm saving the online tests for my second SAT.)

excellent idea.

Any more opinions? I'm a little worried that by studying 3 months beforehand, I might forgot some of what I have learned from these tests... should I just study when it's a little closer to the SAT date?

No, preparing ahead of time is a good strategy. I think your schedule looks great, especially if you have the motivation to take one test every week (I certainly don't). Good luck.

what's the red book?

I think the Red book is the "old" version of the Blue Book. The one for the old SAT, I mean.

While I think taking practice tests is soooo essential to the SAT prep process, I think it is equally as important to review the tests you take, analyze those questions that tripped you up, study unfamiliar concepts, and practice effective problem solving strategies. You mentioned that you don't really study during the week - are you going over the test and your mistakes and reviewing the material you are not so familiar with?

Also, make sure you have enough real tests to take you to the January test. In fact, you might want to make sure you have a few left over in case you don't reach your goal score and have to retake the test... hopefully this won't be the case, but it's good to be prepared.

I do go over questions that I have answered incorrectly. Although I admit that I don't go over questions I got right...But I will probably buy Rocketreview Revolution for CR/Writing and Gruber's for Math to see if their strategies will be effective for me. Those are the two best SAT prep books for what I'm intending to use it for, right?

I should have plenty of tests to last me well until my second SAT. I still have 8 to go in the Red Book, 6 in the Blue Book, 1 QAS, 06-07 online test, 07-08 online test, and the 6 online tests from the CB course. Most likely I will also take the Testmasters course, which will provide me with 3 more practice tests.
