Is this a good test schedule?

March 8th 2014 - SATs
May - SAT 2 Bio (Haven't picked E or M yet) (May 3rd) AP Chinese (May 7th) and AP Bio (May 12th)
June 7 - Math II
Oct - SAT 2nd time

Currently taking AP Bio in school, only AP class available..., so it's best to take SAT 2 Bio when I'm almost done AP Bio.
Currently taking Pre-Calc, so it's best to take Math 2 right after
Is this a good test schedule? I'm also doing a Science Fair Project from December to March and also study SATs in that time.
I'm not sure if I should take History (US or World) instead of Biology since I'm taking Math 2 already..advice anyone?

I think you should take the bio subject test in June rather than May. It’ll still be fresh in your mind, but you won’t have even more tests piled on top of your AP tests. Taking it in June along with the Math II will give you a bit of a breather. And don’t worry about taking two subject tests back to back. I’ve done it twice, and it’s not too bad.

If you feel like you’re strong at history and can get an 800, then either take it in June or October. I don’t think you should not take bio just because you’re taking Math II.

I say take both subject tests in May and take SAT again in June. Then, if you don’t do as good as you want, you can study all summer and retake in October.

Thank you guys. But if I just take Math 2 and Bio that’s fine right? I already took SAT 2 Chinese. I don’t want to take History honestly lol. Well I don’t wanna take SAT 3 times. I think March and October is fine. I still want to take 1 subject at a time though.

Defer the May/June SAT I decision until after you have your March scores in hand. If your scores aren’t quite where you want them to be, then retake this spring, so that you can craft your college list with full info. While the Oct date can function well as a third sitting, the timing of the score release is tight for ED & EA schools, so you would be better off finishing testing spring of Jr year, if you can. You would have to wait until Oct 23rd to update your Common App with the new Oct scores. It creates a cascading scramble, especially this year with all of the CA glitches.

Given that you want to take one subject test at a time, have you considered sitting for Math II in Jan?

As to which tests to take, check the requirements of the schools you are considering. Very few require three but some that require two specify one of this and one of that, so best to confirm requirements for yourself.

One more comment: May SAT I offers Question & Answer service where for an additional $18, the CB will send you a blank copy of the test booklet and a sheet with your answers and the correct answers for each question. You can wait to order that until after you see your scores. Only useful if you want to verify which problems you got wrong and will then use that info to study for third sitting, if needed.

I don’t want to take Math 2 in Jan. because I’m currently taking Pre-Calc in school until June. If I take the SAT again in June…how can I take my Bio and Math 2?
Also was it wrong to take SAT 2 Chinese since I am a Chinese native?

Well…there aren’t all that many options if you insist on only taking one subject test at a sitting. Take SAT in Jan? You already know all the math you need to know. Subject tests aren’t offered in March. Maybe you will ace the first sitting of SAT in March and can then follow your original schedule. I was just trying to caution you that if you plan to apply ED, waiting for the Oct test results creates a real time crunch. Not impossible, but adds pressure.

I have no idea about the Chinese language question. If you aren’t planning to apply ED and if you are confident about your test-taking abilities, then you can follow your initial schedule, but if you are inflexible, there really wasn’t much point in posting.

I rather than Subject Tests after SATs. So SATs definitely in March, not earlier…I have to take both AP tests in May…so where would SAT 2 Bio and Math 2 fall in? Both in June? But like you said, I might have to take SATs again in June?

This is frustrating LOL

I could take Bio in March and SAT in Jan, and maybe Math 2 in May or June in case I need to take SATs in June…but I don’t wanna not study enough for SATs, I currently have the blue book and I’ll be getting a few other books, and same for SAT 2 Bio…

Meh, no help.

Subject tests are not offered in March. They are offered the other six SAT I dates, but not March. I do not understand why you wouldn’t take the subject tests in May. Won’t you be studying for the APs at the same time?

You could switch to the ACT and then have all SAT dates free for subject tests. If you don’t nail the SAT or ACT, the subject test scores won’t mean much.

If you have the blue book, get studying! Sit and take a practice test under timed conditions. The practice scores are fairly accurate, so once you know your score range, you will know how much more time you need to dedicate to studying and retesting.
