For the UC Prompt 1, do you think it would be a good idea to talk about one certain member of your family? The prompt says to describe the world you come from, so I'm kinda feeling iffy about that topic. What do you guys think? Here's the prompt for those who don't know.

Prompt #1 (freshman applicants)

Describe the world you come from for example, your family, community or school and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

I just finished writing my essay for this prompt, I talked about my school and town so it was more broad… but if you can really show that this one person shaped you then I think you’re good. If it were your best friend I think it’d be different, but they mentioned family so it’ll probably be fine.

I’ll read it if you’re confident that it’s good. That means that by your personal judgment it should have good content, style, diction and should have been proofread for grammar etc.

hello class of 2010! this is an old thread but as a rising senior, i would actually like to know the answer to this question as well (the focus of my essay is my dad)
