A couple years ago, I was supposed to perform at my town's beginning-of-summer charter day. It wasn't such a big deal, but as I walked onstage, I realized I hadn't actually prepared a song -- I'd completely forgotten about it, so I just sort of did a "talking blues" thing for a while and basically told a story/talked about me. I'm thinking of writing about this and talking how I've realized it's good to sort of be spontaneous/take chances in everything. Good topic, or not so much? Thanks!

I don’t think it’s a good idea because you weren’t trying to take a chance, due to disorganization, you put yourself in a position in which you could have embarrassed yourself and whomever had approved your appearance there.

I don’t think you want colleges to view you as a person who’s too lazy or disorganized to prepare for big opportunities.

i like it, it shows youre creative, you can think on the spot and hey, that youre human too! we all forget, but what you did was different and i think itll make a good essay as long as its very well written

thanks for the feedback! any other comments? can’t really decide

Depends on your overall message. Are you saying you’re disorganized and don’t prepare for the big events in your life (like a college essay), or that you discovered a new, spontaneous you? It all comes down to your message.

I’m trying to talk about spontaneity, taking chances, and that sort of thing.

and do you guys think the anecdote matches up with my message about spontaneity?
