Is this a good way to study for the ACT?

I took the ACT last September and I am wondering if it is a good idea to focus on the math and english only.

C- 26
E-27
M-28
R-24 :(
S-23 :(

I've been studying and practicing since the test and I'm continuously getting low 30's in math and english (a 34 in english once) and my reading and science have pretty much stayed the same. It seems very easy for me to grasp the rules for english and the math is getting easier every time I take a practice test. I'd be satisfied with a 27 or a 28 on the February ACT and was wondering if anyone else thought it would be a good idea to only focus on the english and math part

I'm a junior and can take the test up to December. If I maxed my english and math now, couldnt I come back to science and reading later, or not.

Yes, but also take practice tests for science and reading as well. Try different approaches and strategies. The questions for reading and science are not hard, you just have to get used to the time limit. You can easily get into the high 20s-low 30s with good prep :)

yes those time limits on reading and science are treacherous. when i practice reading without time limits I’m always in the 29-31 area. I always assume I’m not going extremely over 35 minutes but then I take a practice test and end up in the 24-26 area.

Get good at the reading and Science sections. It gets a lot harder to bring up points when you get into the thirties.

try reading the questions first for science

the best way to study reading and science is practice practice practice, I got 20 on reading the first time. I praticed every reading test I could find, It wasn’t til the week before the test I had it finally figure out. I got 31 the second time.

whats the best way to approach the reading section? read the question then look for the answer? read the passage and underline key terms? anyone have a strategy that gets them 33+?

just skim the passage and then answer the questions once you get an idea of where it is in the passage. the reading comprehension in this test is a joke.

I am definitely starting to agree with everyone on practice. I just took the practice test in the 2009/2010 packet and just got a 29 on reading, 25 on science, and 29 composite! I was not expecting these results, especially since i was stressing over the science while taking the test. I will continue to do practice tests, but I will also study math and english from Princeton Review. I still feel that I am able to really study those sections. Thanks for all the advice.
