<p>I was wondering if this is a great hook? or if it is just merely wasted words on an application.</p>

<p>yeh I know, I'm the one who is applying to college, and not my father. lol. I was just wondering about that because I wrote it in my essay and how it fueled me to become a better blah blah blah etc.....</p>

<p>I don't know much but I would say that if you can really tie it into how he and his experiences have influenced you then it serves at something that will help you to stand out...be remembered by the ad com.</p>
