Is this a late registration date for college?

The starting registration date for the fall term for my college starts on July 6th, but mine is on July 17th. 11 days after the start. Is too late because I’m afraid of classes filling up?

Why is your date different than everyone else’s?

I imagine the start date and earlier dates are for people with more “seniority”, which usually means more credit hours from classes already taken and/or AP credits. There is probably nothing you can do about it.

It is not possible to accurately answer your question without knowing the college, its actual registration schedule and its history of freshman not being able to get some classes they want, Nevertheless, typically at univerisites there is some risk that as a freshman you may not get a class or possibly two that are desired, although the risk is more often not being able to get the time you want for a class, i.e. you cannot get that ideal time at 11 a.m. but the 8 a.m. time for the same course that may include a Saturday session is wide open. Generally at colleges, incoming sophomores to seniors get to register before freshman with the result that freshman can sometimes be blocked out from taking an upper level course, or even blocked out for some freshman courses at ideal times. Moreover, colleges often even have a pecking order for freshman with those who have “honor” status going first or certain majors going first for particular courses (such as engineering students having priority for freshman level engineering related courses). In other words, if you are a freshman at a typical university, you can usually assume you have at least some low risk of not being to get a course you want and a somewhat higher risk of not being to get a course you want at the particular time you might want.

Not everyone has the same registration date. One of my friends has a July 23rd registration date and my other friend has it on July 13th.

@fallenchemist would u consider it a late registration date?

It really depends on the college. You’d do better to post a question on the FB page for your class.

The others are correct. So much depends on whether you are attending a really large school with many sections for a lot of classes or a smaller school with more limited choices. The huge range in registration dates leads me to believe that you are going to be attending a large school, unless these dates are tied to some kind of orientation schedule.
