If that's not a likely letter, then I think it shows a lack of sense on the part of Notre Dame. They may be trying to be nice, but it would only be stringing a kid along.

rejection letters can sound that flattering. "We were very impressed with your achievements", blah, blah, blah. Its all boilerplate stuff and nobody should take it too seriously.

But the difference is a flattering rejection letter is just trying to console you AFTER you know you've been rejected. This letter has been sent while there is still hope of acceptance. If this is just a request for more info it should just say something like "We were looking through our files and noticed your application was incomplete. If you could send us...." or something like that.

ok what they basically asked me about my FA was that i had provided documentation for a lesser amount than I had said I could pay. By the looks of how it was written it seemed as if they were willing to give me aid, just were trying to ask how much exactly i needed.

Or they wanted verification that you could really pay what you said you could, even though you didn't provide documentation, as menloparkmom indicated. As an international, you need to prove that you can finance your education.

umm, moizuhk which country are you from, and can you post some of your stats which you think might have impressed the adcom (awards, ECs etc)? I think since your admission to ND is directly linked to your ability to pay, they might want FA forms before deciding to accept/reject u...

I received the same letter from UND the other week.
It sounded a lot like letters I received from other colleges requesting some FA garbage.
I'm pretty sure it's not a likely, considering UND admissions are not likely to be impressed by my file.
