Is this a likely letter?

Hey, i got an email from North Carolina State today(my safety school). I applied early action and they are supposed to give me a decision on Dec 15th. I'm not worried about being accepted but wondered if the email really was a likely letter. Here it is:

Dear NAME,

Thank you for your interest in North Carolina State University. I am pleased that you have completed your application for undergraduate admission. I want to take this opportunity to wish you well as you make a decision on the best place for your college experience. As you consider your options, I encourage you to discover why so many students have chosen to attend North Carolina State.

NC State has much to offer outstanding students such as yourself, including extensive study abroad experiences, the University Honors Program, the University Scholars Program, undergraduate research options, service learning opportunities, a supportive faculty, friendly students and outstanding alumni. These supplemental activities work in conjunction with our outstanding academic programs to create a college experience that is challenging and richly rewarding.

I extend a special invitation to you and your family to find out more about these and the many other opportunities NC State has to offer by exploring our website and by visiting our campus if you have not already done so. We offer walking campus tours Monday through Friday of each week. Please visit our website for more details, including information on how to register.

Once again I am pleased that you have chosen to apply to NC State. We look forward to providing you with a formal response to your application soon. In the meantime, best wishes on a successful senior year.

Sooo0o0o0o, was it a likely letter or just a nice mass email to all applicants?

That sounds a bit too generic to be a likely letter, IMO.

Not a likely, just an email they likely send to all applicants that provides info. Public universities seldom use likely letters and a true likely usually goes along the lines of "We have your application. We believe you are an outstanding candidate. Please do not choose to accept at any other college before receiving our decision to admit."

No.....................

Definately not.

Generic letter. Nothing special

Not at all a likely letter! In fact I can't even find a sentence that even hints at acceptance. Colleges could send out a letter like this to anyone; all it does is invite you to take a closer look at the school and thank you for applying.

BTW, a likely letter has a sentence that reads something like "we expect we will extend an offer of admission to you when decisions are released on X date". Nothing in what you posted is even close.

I think they're just thanking you for applying; since it's a non-binding Early program, they want you to go there because they'll have higher matriculation percentages. But it's nice that they took the time to write you something.
